Propagating waves and organized patterns are entities that frequently emerge in complex nonlinear systems arising in various scientific disciplines such as fluid mechanics, mathematical biology or nonlinear optics. In systems exhibiting dissipative effects these special solutions often govern the dynamics of interest. Thus, understanding their fundamental properties, such as existence, stability or propagation speed, is of key importance. This minisymposium will bring together experts employing a wide array of mathematical techniques to study nonlinear waves and patterns in dissipative models.
